Design Storey is an award-winning architectural and interior design studio known for homes, heritage and lifestyle projects

We design beautiful homes by repurposing old buildings, or creating new ones, to enhance our client’s everyday lives.  The studio works on a range of projects throughout Oxfordshire and the Cotswolds from creative transformations of listed buildings to contemporary one-off houses.

Based in historic Oxford, our designs are inspired by experiences working in both London and Vancouver, as well as the picturesque landscape of the Cotswolds. Our approach to design is contextual and holistic, where the disciplines of architecture, interiors & landscape design are brought together under one roof, to create a complete design story.

APPROACH

Every project has its own design story

We enjoy closely collaborating with, and getting to know, our clients learning about their needs and aspirations, but also what makes them tick. Although we don’t have a ‘house style’, we use guiding principles and a rigorous design process to create consistency in our approach:

Our design philosophy is contextual

We enjoy teasing out the constraints of the site, whether an old manor or modern home, learning about its history and character and using this to inform the design. Our belief is that the best architecture is about more than just a building; it’s about the relationship to the grounds, the streetscape and the landscape beyond. This approach extends into the building’s interior, creating spaces that enhance and transform our client’s day-to-day lives.

EXPERTISE

Our expertise ranges from meticulous designs for one-off bespoke homes to the sensitive conversion of listed buildings through to the successful delivery of the interiors of flagship destinations. During our 12 years in practice, we have developed expertise in:

DESIGN PROCESS

Over the years we have been in practice we have honed our design process. Applying our knowledge from other practices and past experiences we have created a process to make the design more accessible for clients. This tailored approach ensures the more time that is spent exploring the client’s requirements.

Our design process process starts with an introductory meeting on site or in our studio where we explore your initial ideas and talk you though our bespoke design process and services.
