Mabel’s Farmhouse

‘Mabel’s’ is a Grade II listed, eighteenth century former farmhouse, located in the Ilmington Conservation Area which lies at the edge of the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house had previously been owned by Warwickshire County Council and formed part of one of their ‘County Smallholdings’. In fact, the land that was previously connected with the house is still farmed by a tenant dairy farmer.

The is house an example of the lobby entrance type, a typology which was common in the early part of the eighteenth century. It is in remarkable original condition and still retains a host of original features including elm floorboards, flagstones and beams. Our remit is to introduce modern services to the building while retaining its charm and features. The renovation of the house is being serialized by ‘Homebuilding & Renovating Magazine’ in the form of a monthly renovation blog.
